Antonio Banderas Reveals Who He Would Want to Take His Place as Zorro

In the event of a Zorro reboot, Antonio Banderas knows exactly who he would want to take on the role: Tom Holland.

In a recent interview, Pussin Boots: The Last Wish , Banderas stated that he would like to hand the title over Holland if there was a remake.

“I did Uncharted with him, and he’s so energetic and fun, and he’s got this spark, too,” Banderas told ComicBook. “Why not?”

Banderas stated that he would like to return to the franchise in a different film to pass the mask to Holland in the same way that Anthony Hopkins did in The Mask of Zorro. The film featured Hopkins’ Don Diego de la Vega passing the torch to Alejandro Murrieta of Banderas.

Banderas replied, “I would consider that possibility,” when Banderas was asked about returning to the franchise for a new project. “I said something similar to someone. I replied, “Well, if they called me [to do Zorro], I would do the same thing Anthony Hopkins did in [the first] for me, which is to give the torch to somebody else. ‘”

The actor has been openly discussing the possibility of returning to the mask before. Banderas told ComicBook that he had spoken to Quentin Tarantino regarding a possible crossover between and Django, Jamie Foxx’s character in Tarantino’s Django unchained.

“He just came up and said hello to me. I was like, “In your hands?” He said, “Yes, man!” Quentin has the natural ability to make these types of movies and give them quality. “Even if they are based on those types of B-movies of the ’60s and ’70s, he can take that material and do something really interesting. Although we have never worked together, it would be great because he, Jamie Foxx, and because he will be playing Zorro when he is older. It would be fantastic and funny and crazy.”
