Amazon to Feature Reese Witherspoon in a Cheerleading Comedy Series

Prime Video, the tech giant, has placed a two-season order for ‘All Stars’ from Aline Brosh McKenna.

Reese Witherspoon Will star in and executive produce a comedy series that is set in the cheerleading world of Amazon’s Prime Video.

Multiple other outlets were outbid by the streamer for the project, titled All StarsBy handing out a straight-to-series order for two seasons, The series will be produced by Lauren Neustadter and Witherspoon under the Hello Sunshine banner. Aline Brosh McKenna (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: The Devil Wears Prrada).

All Stars The story centers on Witherspoon, a former cheerleader who tries to cross the Atlantic to teach cheerleading in England.

Witherspoon stated that she was looking for a project to bring the Hello Sunshine mission to make women heroes of their own stories to a younger audience for a long period. “When I saw this story I knew that this idea would accomplish exactly what I wanted. It was so exciting to see an American woman cheerleading for a group of young girls in the U.K. This show is full of heart, joy, and teamwork. I cannot wait to work with Aline McKenna, brilliant, funny, and talented, to create a truly original comedy character, and with Amazon’s team whose passion for this endeavor was unmatched.

All Stars This feature was loosely inspired by Andrea Kulberg (a former University of Texas cheerleader) who now owns a cheer camp with her twin sister, Aly in the U.K. Hello Sunshine brought this idea to Brosh McKenna who directed and wrote the Witherspoon-led, Hello Sunshine-produced feature Your Place or MineThe debut of the, which will be available in February 2023.

Hello Sunshine and Witherspoon are represented by CAA and Gretchen Rush of Hansen Jacobsen. LBI Entertainment also represents Witherspoon. Brosh McKenna works with Hansen Jacobsen’s attorney Ken Richman and CAA.
